Nicotinamide riboside is a form of vitamin B3 and a naturally occurring precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD⁺). NAD⁺ plays a key role in essential cellular processes, including energy metabolism and cellular maintenance.

As NAD⁺ levels naturally decline with age, NR is commonly used to support healthy NAD⁺ levels as part of a balanced lifestyle focused on cellular health and overall well-being.

  • 500 mg of NR twice a day throughout 6 weeks made the hearts of participants significantly healthier by decreasing aorta stiffness, and it increased NAD+ levels in the blood, as shown by Martens et al., 2017. 
  • As discovered by Remie et al., a daily dose of 1000 mg NR over 6 weeks increased skeletal muscle NAD+ metabolites, affected skeletal muscle acetylcarnitine metabolism, and had a minor positive effect on body composition and sleeping metabolic rate in healthy overweight or obese men and women (Remie et al., 2020).
