About NR + Resveratrol Combo

Includes:
1 x 60 x 300 mg NR
1 x 60 x 500 mg Trans-Resveratrol

NR
Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a precursor of NAD+. While structurally different from NAD+, its presence can still lead to the creation of NAD+. NR is commonly referred to as "niagen" and is part of the vitamin B3 family.

Trans-Resveratrol
Resveratrol is a plant compound found in the skins of grapes and other berries, and is especially popular because it’s present in red wine. Trans-resveratrol is a more bioavailable form of resveratrol that has strong antioxidant and cardioprotective properties. Human clinical trials showed that trans-resveratrol decreases “bad” cholesterol in blood, reduces high blood pressure, and increases insulin sensitivity.

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the safe daily maximum intake of trans-resveratrol is 150 mg. At smaller doses, trans-resveratrol does not cause any side effects. For best bioavailability, take trans-resveratrol supplements on an empty stomach with water in the morning.

Benefits of NR + Resveratrol

NR

  1. NR supplementation could potentially be used to prevent cell aging and all related processes.
  2. It can prevent DNA damage and prolong cell life.
  3. NAD+ levels in the blood increase after taking NR supplements.
  4. Studies of older men over 12 weeks showed 250 mg nicotinamide riboside daily improved muscle responsiveness and reduced drowsiness.
  5. Increased energy levels. In a human trial, groups receiving NR exhibited higher aerobic capacity during training, and the effect was stronger the more NR they took.
  6. Increased insulin sensitivity. A 10-week supplementation with 250 mg of NR increased insulin sensitivity and insulin action in prediabetic postmenopausal women.

Resveratrol

  1. Resveratrol is a strong plant antioxidant capable of neutralizing oxidative stress effects.
  2. Resveratrol can protect post-menopausal women from losing bone density and reduce inflammation in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome.
  3. Taking resveratrol may have a similar effect to calorie restriction in obese people, and it can offer cardioprotective benefits.
Efficacy Studies

NR

  1. 2022 study tested the safety and efficacy of either 300, 600, or 900 mg of NR when taken by 80 middle-aged healthy adults for 60 days. The study discovered that the NR supplement safely increases blood NAD+ levels, and increases physical ability. The biological age parameters were also significantly lower in people who took NR. The 600 mg dose was found to be as effective as the 900 mg dose.
  2. 2022 study tested the effects of 250 mg of NR in healthy older men (aged 65 or older) during 6 or 12 weeks, one group in the morning, and the other in the afternoon. Results showed that the group receiving NR orally in the afternoon had significantly higher muscle responsiveness and less drowsiness than the groups who received no NR or received it in the morning.
  3. study done in 2021 tested a 10-week supplementation of 250 mg of NR per day in 25 postmenopausal women with prediabetes who were overweight or obese. They found that women who took NR had significantly increased insulin sensitivity and pushed toward muscle remodeling
  4. In 2021, a clinical study was performed on amateur runners, where 48 recreational runners received either a placebo or 300, 600, or 1200 mg of NR daily, for 6 weeks. Participants trained 5 or 6 times per week and their performance was measured. Results showed that groups receiving NR exhibited higher aerobic capacity during training, and the effect was stronger the more NR they took.

Resveratrol

  1. A 2020 clinical trial done by Wong et al. showed that regular supplementation with 75 mg of resveratrol twice daily has the potential to slow bone loss in post-menopausal women.
  2. In a study of 40 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, done by Brenjian et al. in 2020, it was shown that taking 800 mg of resveratrol per day for 40 days can significantly reduce inflammation and stress markers.
  3. In a 2012 study, Tomé-Carneiro et al. tested the effects of taking a grape extract supplement containing resveratrol on patients undergoing primary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Patients who took 350 mg of the resveratrol-enriched grape extract for 6 months had a decreased level of "bad" fats in the blood, particularly their LDL and oxidized LDL concentrations.
  4. A 2011 study by Timmers et al. demonstrated that 30 days of resveratrol supplementation of 150 mg/day mimics the effects of calorie restriction in obese humans.
