Astaxanthin ist ein Carotinoid-Pigment, das auf natürliche Weise von der Mikroalge Haematococcus pluvialis gebildet wird; dasselbe Pigment ist auch für die rosa und rote Färbung von Lachs, Garnelen und Flamingos verantwortlich. Es gehört zur Klasse der Xanthophylle unter den Carotinoiden und zeichnet sich durch seine sauerstoffhaltige Molekülstruktur aus. Haematococcus pluvialis gilt als eine der reichhaltigsten natürlichen Quellen für Astaxanthin.
Astaxanthin-Nahrungsergänzungsmittel sind in natürlicher und synthetischer Form erhältlich. Unser Astaxanthin wird auf natürlichem Wege aus Haematococcus pluvialis gewonnen – der Form, die auf dem Markt für Nahrungsergänzungsmittel für den Menschen sowie in den meisten veröffentlichten Studien am Menschen vorwiegend verwendet wird. Synthetisches Astaxanthin wird chemisch hergestellt, dient in erster Linie als Futterzusatz in der Aquakultur und ist für den direkten menschlichen Verzehr noch nicht als sicher eingestuft worden.

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid pigment produced by the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. It's the same pigment responsible for the pink and red coloration in salmon, shrimp, and flamingos.
Natural. Ours is derived directly from Haematococcus pluvialis, the form used in the majority of published human research and the dominant form sold for human consumption. Synthetic astaxanthin is manufactured for aquaculture feed and hasn't been established as safe for people to take directly.
