Lions Mane (Hericium Erinaceus) Efficacy

1. Improving effects of the mushroom Yamabushitake (Hericium erinaceus) on mild cognitive impairment.

Subjects: 30, 50- to 80-year-old Japanese men and women diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment.

Method: double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled trial. Took 250 mg tablets of Lions Mane extract 3 times per day over 16 weeks. At weeks 4, 8, and 16 they were tested for

2. Improvement of cognitive functions by oral intake of Hericium erinaceus

Subjects: 31, composed of 6 male and 10 female subjects for HE group, and 5 male and 10 female subjects for placebo group.

Method: randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel-group comparative study (RCT), all participants were randomly divided into two groups: the H. erinaceus (HE) group taking four HE supplements in a day, and the placebo group taking four placebo supplements in a day that did not contain HE for 12 weeks.
