About NR

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a precursor of NAD+. While structurally different from NAD+, its presence can still lead to the creation of NAD+. NR is commonly referred to as "niagen" and is part of the vitamin B3 family.

Benefits of NR
  • Nicotinamide Riboside is easily converted into NAD+ in blood, and is well-tolerated and safe for consumption.
  • Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride rapidly converts into NAD+ reducing aorta stiffness and blood pressure in middle-aged and older adults.
  • Boosts skeletal muscle NAD+ metabolites and influences skeletal muscle acetylcarnitine metabolism.
  • It has a slight impact on body composition and sleeping metabolic rate in healthy overweight or obese individuals.
Efficacy Studies
  • Studies show that chronic supplementation of NR over 2 x 6 weeks is safe and well-tolerated in middle-aged and older individuals, leading to increased NAD+ levels (Martens et al. 2018). 
  • 500 mg of NR twice a day throughout 6 weeks made the hearts of participants significantly healthier by decreasing aorta stiffness, and it increased NAD+ levels in the blood, as shown by Martens et al., 2017. 
  • As discovered by Remie et al., a daily dose of 1000 mg NR over 6 weeks increased skeletal muscle NAD+ metabolites, affected skeletal muscle acetylcarnitine metabolism, and had a minor positive effect on body composition and sleeping metabolic rate in healthy overweight or obese men and women (Remie et al., 2020).
